Background and Aims
Building on the tremendous success of the past conferences Performance Measurement:
Theory and Practice is the sixth in a series of bi-annual conferences focusing on
the theory and practice of performance measurement and management. In line with the
previous four conferences, PMA 2009 will provide a unique international forum for those
interested in performance measurement to share ideas and concepts drawn from research and
practice.
No other conference better facilitates dialogue in the field of performance measurement, providing such a rare opportunity for academics and practitioners to meet and exchange ideas. The highly successful PMA series of conferences has been running since 1998. This time we are fortunate to have secured three world-class keynote speakers, Professor Rob Chenhall from Monash University, Australia; Professor Ken Merchant of University of Southern California, USA; Professor Andy Neely from Cranfield School of Management, UK.
Typically up to one third of participants at the PMA conference come from practice, while two thirds are drawn from academia. Attendees come from all over the globe and have diverse backgrounds, which makes the event particularly fascinating given the diversity of views held and shared by participants.
The conference is organised on behalf of the Performance Management Association (PMA) by the Centre for Business Performance, Cranfield School of Management and the University of Otago. The conference chairs are Professor Andy Neely from Cranfield School of Management and from the University of Otago, School of Business, Professor Ralph Adler, Dr Richard Greatbanks, Dr Carolyn Stringer, Dr Paul Theivananthampillai.
As in previous years the conference will commence with a Welcome Reception, followed by two and a half days of parallel stream paper presentations. Keynote presentations are delivered on each day and additional plenary sessions will be held throughout the event.
The principal aim of the conference is to provide a unique inter-disciplinary and international forum for the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge and research about organizational performance measurement within both the public and private sectors. If you would like to participate, please register your interest by 30th November, 2008.
